HDB has introduced a registration scheme for spalling concrete repair contractors. Spalling

contractor. It is not meant to be exhaustive or an endorsement of the contractor’s performance.

Listing of HDB Registered Renovation Contractors
The HDB Registered Renovation Contractors' Scheme (RRCS)
was introduced to regulate the activities of renovation
contractors when they carry out renovation works in HDB flats.
This is to ensure the structural integrity of HDB buildings,
minimal unsightly alteration to the form of HDB buildings and
safety of the living environment. HDB Registered Renovation
Contractors (RRCs) are required to observe and comply with
the terms and conditions governing the HDB RRCs Scheme.
HDB will take appropriate action against HDB RRCs who have
infringed the terms of the registration scheme.
Renovation and Decoration Advisory Centre
The Renovation and Decoration Advisory Centre (RADAC) was set up in 1986 as a watchdog non-profit voluntary consumer-based body to provide greater controls in the renovation and decoration industry.
List of Windows Contractors
From 1 October 2004, the Windows legislation state that Any person
who wishes to install/repair windows must engage an approved
window contractor to undertake the work ii) Aluminium rivets
fitted on the geometry stays (commonly known as friction stays)
of casement windows in residential buildings (including service a
partment buildings) must be replaced with those made of stainless
steel (of type 304). The owners of the individual residential unit
are responsible to engage approved window contractors to undertake
the retrofitting work. Windows in detached house, semi-detached house,
terrace house or linked house, which are not comprised in any strata
title plan, and windows located on the lowest level of any buildings
are exempted from the order.
BCA Approved Window Contractors listed with HDB
HDB Flat owners should engage a BCA approved window contractor listed
with HDB to replace the aluminium rivets on their windows. HDB has a
list of BCA approved window contractors who can carry out proper
window inspection/installation/repair works.
Installation of Air-con Units
The legislation fo air-con support ws introduced in September 1999
to prevent air-conditioning units from falling off buildings.
The legislation requires existing window air-conditioning units
that are mounted to a timber frame around a wall or window opening
to be retrofitted with a stainless steel bracket. Owners must engage
a trained worker to carry out the retrofitting works. The legislation
is applicable if the window air-conditioning unit is installed on the
exterior of a building or projecting over a common area or public space,
where there is a risk of injury to anyone who might be beneath the unit
if it should fall off....

Household Shelters
The Household Shelter (HS) is part of the Civil Defence Shelter Programme,
which part of the government's plan to build up our Civil Defence
preparedness under the umbrella of Total Defence. The long-term goal
of the shelter programme is for every resident in Singapore to be
protected by a purpose-built shelter berth. Any repair or alternation
or renovation works, which are likely to weaken or damage any structural
elements of the HS or NS, are not permitted. Permitted and not permitted
works of the HS is also listed.
Request for Copy of Plans on Building Information
Only property owners of a private property, their authorised agents
(with the proof of authorised letter from the owner), Chairman of MCST
of condominium housing and any trustee of religious organisation or
society can apply for a copy of the building plans.
Works to home and buildings not requiring approval (BCA)
Owners of private properties are often unsure about the need to get
approval from the BCA for alterations or additions to their properties.
Some may not be awre of may have been misinformed by others about
matters relating to building work permits. BCA has published a
booklet of simple guidelines on the need to submit plans for approval.

List of Licensed Employment Agencies of foreign manpower
MOM has mainatained a list of licensed employment agencies in Singapore.
Explanatory notes for the EA Directory: i) The demerit points system was
introduced on 1 Feb 06. Demerit points are issued to EAs when the EA
infringes the EA Act, Rules or Licensing Conditions. EAs which accumulate
12 or more demerit points within a one-year licensing period will have their
licence revoked or be barred from licence renewal. All EAs will start with
a clean slate from 1 Feb 06 onwards. Thereafter, any demerit points accumulated
will be refreshed upon licence renewal. ii) The accreditation scheme is
applicable only to EAs placing foreign domestic workers (FDW).
Basic Requirements for Employing a Foreign Domestic Worker
1) A foreigner who is on social visit such as on holiday or short term
visit to Singapore is not allowed to apply for a Work Permit. 2)A foreign
domestic worker must be 23 years old or above and below 50 years old (
applicable to first-time foreign domestic workers in Singapore)......
