American International Assurance (AIA)
AIA has gone from strength to strength over the past 70 years,
emerging as the leading life insurer in Southeast Asia; and more
importantly, Singapore - where there are over one million AIA
policies-in-force. AIA is one of the reputable and established
players in the life insurance business in Singapore. AIA is also
a wholly-owned subsidiary of American International Group, Inc. (AIG).
AVIVA
Aviva entered the Singapore market in July 2001 through acquisition
of the former Insurance Corporation of Singapore. Since then, the
Company has grown from the 6th to the 3rd largest provider of
long-term regular savings products. It has also expanded its offerings
to include unit trusts via Navigator, a single electronic platform
which aggregates and tracks customers' investment portfolios.
AXA Singapore
AXA Insurance Singapore, a leading general insurer in Singapore,
is a wholly owned subsidiary of the AXA Group, a world leader in
Financial Protection. AXA Insurance Singapore provides professional
advice on all personal and business general insurance needs.
Great Eastern
Great Eastern is the largest insurance group in Singapore and Malaysia
with about S$39 billion in assets (as at 30 September 2005) and about 2.4 million
policyholders. Great Eastern is the market leader in both Singapore and Malaysia,
with a market share of about 24% and 20% respectively. It is the only life insurance
company to be listed on the Singapore Exchange, and is the largest insurance company
in South-east Asia in terms of assets and market capitalisation.
HSBC Insurance
HSBC Insurance (Singapore) Pte. Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary
of HSBC Insurance (Asia Pacific) Holdings Limited, which is ultimately
owned by HSBC Holdings plc, the London-based holding company of the
HSBC Group. HSBC Group is one of the world's largest banking and financial
services organizations, with major personal, commercial, corporate and
investment banking and insurance businesses operating in some 10,000 offices
in 77 countries and territories in Europe, the Asia Pacific region,
the Americas, the Middle East and Africa.
Manualife Financial
Manualife. with its headquarter in Canada, is the 4th largest life
insurer in the world (based on market capitalisation as of 4th November 2005).
It was formed with the merger of Manulife Financial, John Hancock
and its Canadian subsidiary Maritime Life.
NTUC Income Insurance Cooperative Ltd
NTUC Income, a cooperative insurance society formed in 1970,
was initiated by Dr Goh Keng Swee during the "Modernisation
of the Labour Movement" seminar on 18 November 1969.
With a modest capital of $1.2 million, it has become a leader
in Life and General Insurance with total assets of S$16 billion
and more than 1.8 million policyholders.
Overseas Assurance Corporation (OAC)
Founded in 1920, OAC is the oldest composite insurer in Singapore
handling both life and general insurance. Since December 2000
when it became a fully-owned subsidiary of Great Eastern Holdings,
its focus has been on strengthening its bancassurance business,
with its products distributed through OCBC Banks banking network
throughout Singapore. It also provides general insurance in Singapore and Malaysia.
Prudential Assurance
Prudential Assurance was set established in Singapore in 1931.
It is among the top three life insurers in Singapore with 3,000
full time insurance advisers and 400 staff in Singapore alone. It
has the highest number of MDRT Advisers in Singapore's recent history,
and has 23 life and fund management operations in 12 countries. It is the
wholly-owned subsidiary of UK-based Prudential plc which ranks
among world's top retail financial products & services company.
The Asia Insurance Company Ltd
Asia Insurance was Incorporated on 11 July 1923, it is one of the oldest local
insurance companies in the Singapore market. It now writes a gross premiums
of S$115 million and with shareholders fund of S$215 million, it is one of
the strongest insurance companies in the market. It specialises in
general insurance products.
Transamerica
The companies of Transamerica offer a vast array of innovative
